Poker Helper is yet another app designed to allow you to go one step ahead of your opponents - this time for a small price ofRunning into Aces with Kings
With aces you have nothing to fear before the flop . But with pocket kings there is always this nagging thought in the back of your head that maybe, just maybe, one of your opponents has aces.
He folded Kings in the Main Event! Is that a likely scenario? The answer is, as it often is in poker, “it depends.'
If you're playing heads-up you're only up against one opponent. That opponent only has aces roughly once every 220 hands.
So, no. It's not likely he has your kings beat.
But at a full-ring table (9 players) with 8 opponents, it's suddenly much more likely – albeit still a long-shot – that someone has aces against your kings.
The odds for that to happen are 1 in 26 . You're almost always better off disregarding this worst-case scenario, but sometimes really good players can make impressive folds with kings before the flop.
Here's German young gun Christopher Frank doing exactly that during the 2016 WSOP Main Event:

Simply put, every other hand you can be dealt is going to lose you money. As a beginner or even intermediate player, hands that may look great - such as an off-suit Q-J or J-10 - are simply going to lose you money in the long run.
The worse the hands you play, the harder the decisions you're going to have to make post-flop.
The goal as a beginner poker player is to make as few mistakes as possible. And the best way to limit the number of mistakes you make is to reduce the number of difficult decisions you have to make.
The three most common mistakes a beginner makes are:
- Playing out of position
- Playing weak starting hands
- Playing marginal hands against a raise
Stick to only playing the hands in this list. Throw away the weaker of these hands when out of position, and only play against a raise if you have a very strong hand or the odds with a strong drawing hand.
Follow those guidelines, and you'll be on a fast track to making profit.

You'll not hit the hand much more than you'll hit it. Play strong hands that lose less. Use the odds in your favor and ignore could have been.
Alrik Wylie 2015-12-13 12:19:41
I think their schedule is based on playing at the real money tables not a Tourney , in a Tourney there are other rules because your dealing with a time schedule and increasing blinds , but their tip above is not a bad one except when you follow blind , when you don't get much good hands then you have to do something somewhere. And trying to make advantage of the situation is very important in a tourney according to my opnion. Also according to the hight of your stack and the position your in your able to play more tight or loose , loose make it able to play les good hands and see if it falls for you on the table. The Best hands you play agressive especially when some before you raised a high amount otherwise you give it a small raise hoping your going to be reraised or at least a call. Greets.
Tuomo Kämäräinen 2015-12-03 23:47:11
It's good to play tight when: A) there are many players on table B) when you are out of position C) when playing against LAGs. It's never black and white in poker, usually the best strategy depends on many factors. I like the charts in 'Wizard od odds' like http://wizardofodds.com/games/texas-hold-em/4-player-game/ . They give you the relative hand strength based on table size, but let you decide which range to play based on your position and type of opponents..
Tobias Larsen 2015-12-03 21:53:17
This is ridiculous! What happend to 'it's not about the hand you are delt, it's how you play them'? - if i follow this guide i can almost only play high pockets or high suits, and be almost too careful doing it. That way i am going to be killed by blinds and the opponent(s) can bluff me succesfully the hole game. This article says that winning poker games is about pure luck. That's ridiculous.
Tuomo Kämäräinen 2015-11-01 12:16:07
On heads up I'd bet 4 BB. Depends on number and style of players, bets, your position and so on.
Tuomo Kämäräinen 2015-11-01 12:11:01
What kind of starting hands should I play depending on my position and number of players (left) in table?
Tuomo Kämäräinen 2015-11-01 12:07:48
You both have four of a kind. The one with highest kicker as the 5th card wins. Ace beats jack. In Texas Hold'Em the best 5 card combination wins.
Jessica Christy Vance 2015-09-01 22:16:24
Q8 You have the higher kicker. Qqqa8 Vs Qqqa7 If the board was qqak6 you would split the pot cause both your hand would be qqqak Your kickers don't come into play. You make the best 5 cards from your two and the board. So based on the hand you spoke of if the 6 or 2 were instead higher than your kicker, you two would have the same hand.

Putting Pot Odds and Equity Together
As you can see, equity and pot odds hang on a bunch of relatively simple calculations. All that they require is some memorization of the formulas and techniques and a little bit of practice calculating them in your head.
For some people this will be much easier than for others but everyone can do it if they spend a small amount of time practicing.
Remember that implied odds change the game of No-Limit Hold'em greatly . In fact, having a very large amount of implied odds can render a call correct even though pot odds would render it absolutely incorrect.
To learn more about implied odds and how they can affect the choices of you and your opponents check out this Implied Odds article here . For another method of calculating your equity in a pot - one you may find easier - you can check out this Equity article.

I want to point out that the formula for determining odds for making a hand by the river, post-flop, with 8 or more outs can be simplified to 3x + 8, where x in the number of outs. In Sean's example, a 15 outer has 53% equity. 3(15) + 8 = 53. Edit: Furthermore, making a hand by the river, post-turn, with 8 or more outs can be simplified to x + 8.
Joshua McCloskey 2016-05-02 11:41:13
You can't consider things you don't know, ever. For example, you are actually 0% if all your outs are folded but the flip side of that coin is you are 100% if every card left makes you winner. On average over the long run you will win as if you had 15 outs because you are that much more likely to have every card make you win than none, or some where between.
kidc11 2016-03-14 15:44:31
The 32% equity with two cards to come on an open end straight, and the 53% in the hand with 15 outs implies you're getting two cards. But you'll most likely have to bet twice. Shoving would avoid this, or being last to act and checking the turn, if possible, then these equity calculations are accurate. For example, if the pot is 0 and you have 15 outs, or 53% as he suggests, a pot sized bet of 0, if called, gives you 2 to 1, right? But you only get one card for that bet, and your equity is 31.9%, not 53%. 53% is for 2 cards, not 1, so you're required to make another bet, so your equity is much lower each bet(than the 53%). On the turn bet, it's 32%. So, for your 0 bet, should he call, you really only have 31.9% of 0, or about for your 0 bet, slightly more with 1 card removed for the turn bet. How to avoid this and get 53%? 1. Shove 2. be last to act and check the turn, if possible.
Fred Wakeen 2016-02-08 15:36:38
When you are playing Omaha with nine or ten players, with ten after the burn and flop you only have eight cards left. When you have a hand with fifteen outs, how does that work with only eight cards left in the deck?? Thanks to anyone who can reply.

Maybe I'm too new at calculating my outs, but I have read two different ways to do it, and both give different ratios. The first being the one described above. The second being: If I had 8 outs on the flop. I would take 47-8, then 39/8. Giving me 4.8-1 instead of 2.1-1 described in this article. Am I just missing a step??
Tian 2010-02-15 12:42:14
Call me stupid, or just new at poker, but I don't understand half the stuff you're talking about....
Sean Lind 2010-02-11 20:32:20
David, You're absolutely correct. Dwan had about 16% chance of hitting his straight, and about 3% chance of winning by making a running two-pair or trips.
David 2010-02-11 02:54:05
I saw an interesting hand in the Durrrr challenge in which Dwan held 75o to a board of Q36 rainbow to Sammy's QJo. Durrr's hand was 20% to win - but using this formula I thought he would only be 16% to win with his 4 outs. I'm guessing the extra 4% was for the possibility of a running pair, but the formula does not account for that - care to explain? Just an exception or what?

The Best Free iPhone & iPad Poker Calculators
Poker calculators are specialised pieces of software that allow you to calculate the odds for even the most complicated situations at the table in a blink of an eye, effectively improving your decision-making skills and enhancing your understanding of poker math. While apps of this kind have been available on PC and Mac for many years now, mobile users have not been so lucky until the recent, rapid developments of smartphone technology made mobile poker calculators possible. iPhone owners are probably best off in this regard, as the iTunes Store offers plenty of high quality apps that will undoubtedly improve your performance during live events while simultaneously allowing you to analyse that hand you haven’t quite been able to get out of your mind while riding on a bus to work. The goal of this short guide is to provide you with a list of dependable, advanced iPhone poker calculators that you can use as a base for your own research later on.Possible Distributions for Texas Hold'em Games Try the Which Hand Wins Calculator!Advertisment Casino Rinconada De Enjoy Santiago Which Poker Hand Wins?

Pocket Aces Back-to-Back
Now anyone can be dealt 83o twice in row and might not even notice this coincidence (because, who cares about those low cards). But if you’ re dealt pocket aces back-to-back, you’ll probably remember this feat for months.

Surprisingly this scenario is not as unlikely as you might think. Over 100 hands the odds are roughly 1 to 500; over 1,000 hands already 1 to 50. Over 34,000 hands you’re 50/50 to have been dealt pocket aces twice in a row at least once.
Someone who has certainly played more than 34,000 hands is Phil Hellmuth . And the Poker Brat just recently managed to get dealt pocket aces back-to-back live on television during Poker Night in America .
But, of course, getting aces is not everything. You first need to get your stack in and you need your hand to hold up. Hellmuth seems to struggle with the latter in this clip:

What are the odds of having 2 Quads in the same hand?
up vote 3 down vote favoriteJust watched a video that went as follows:
- Player 1 (Button): Q♥Q♠
- Player 2: 9♥9⋄
Player 3: 2♣2♠
Flop: Q⋄9♠Q♣
- Turn: 5♠
- River: 9♣
So player 1 slow plays everything, player 2 has 9s full of Qs post flop and a quad by the river. I was talking about it in the office and said that's possible the worst bad beat I've ever seen and someone piped up with he seeing stuff like that, and I quote, 'all the time'.

Texas Holdem Odds Of Making Hands
Is there anyone could calculate the odds of 3 people getting pocket pairs, then one of them flopping a quad and someone else getting a full house at the same time and him ending up being beat on the river despite hitting quad himself?
I don't think those odds are very good...
