Yellow Brick Road Bonus Game

Yellow brick road symbols with the word bonus on it appears on reels 1, 3 and 5. All 3 of these will get you to an entertaining second-screen bonus.

You will see a curved road leading into the distance, with each step having a multiplier of your total bet amount on it. These start 1x through to 100x. In the bottom left corner is Dorothy and on the bottom right a spinner. Your goal is to get as far along the yellow brick road as possible – hopefully all the way to the Emerald City.

Characters from the story appear at random along the way. These are the Wizard (hitting this awards the progressive jackpot), the tin man, scarecrow and lion. If you hit these, the multipliers on the road increase. You will see an animation where they all jump up, go bright gold and then settle back down with double the amount!

You keep pressing the spin button, moving along the road up to 5 steps at a time. When you hit the ‘collect’ on the wheel, then your bonus is over and the game ends. If you reach the Emerald City, then you get to play the next bonus game – the Wizard Bonus.

Wonderful Wizard Bonus

I did not remember the original wizard being as scary as the emerald guy who hosts you for the Wizard Bonus game. You can trigger this game in two ways. First is to reach the end of the yellow brick road, second is to hit 2 of the regular bonus symbols plus the special wizard one on reel 5.

The game is simple, you are shown 6 gold coins, and will pick between 1 and 4 of these. The biggest prize comes from picking Dorothy, though the prizes for the other characters can also be generous. If you collect all 4 characters, you will win the progressive jackpot.

Free Spins Bonus with Wicked and White Witches

There is an entertaining addition to the free spins bonus, which is triggered by hitting 3 of the symbols showing the 2 witches anywhere on the reels. There is no set number of spins, instead you keep spinning until you get a total of 5 of the wicked witch scatters on the reels. In addition to collecting these wicked witch symbols, you will also find new wilds on the reels. These are good witch wilds, and these also collect up below the reels, this time up to 10.

When you hit that final wicked witch, a super spin is triggered. Here all of the good witches you collected fly out of their box and land at random on the reels. These can give you a good coverage of wilds – making for a potentially very profitable spin.

Movie Themed Design of the Winnings of Oz Slot

For me the sound effects stand out more than the visuals in The Winnings of Oz slot machine. These include an ambient soundtrack which has bells and distant chants, a harp sound when you spin the reels and full-on movie type tunes for the bonus games.

The background of the reels is attractive, with a detailed meadow and pasture scene visible. Symbols are nicely done, without being stunning. The farmhouse with the tornado is very effective. You get some additional animations during the bonus games – including that frightening Wizard scene!
