Binions Hall Of Fame Poker Room

Binion's Gambling Hall is at 128 E. Fremont St. (at Casino Center Blvd.). Tax evasion. Ties to mob figures nicknamed “Fat Herbie.” Battles with unions and the Nevada Gaming Commission. IRS raids. The history of Benny Binion's legendary, family-run casino (which opened its doors in 1951 as The Horseshoe) is a Hollywood screenwriter's dream. This is the birthplace of high-limit tables, casino carpeting, comps for low rollers and the World Series of Poker, which got its start here back in 1970. The tournament is no longer held here, but you can still check out framed photos of past champions in and around the Hall of Fame Poker Room.
If by chance the reels don't line up and that $1 million progressive slot jackpot eludes you, head for the rear of the gaming floor, where you can see what a pyramidal stack of 1 million greenbacks actually looks like. You can also pose for a photo with the “Million Dollar Display.” The printed picture is free and usually ready to pick up within 30 minutes—an obvious ploy to keep you in the casino gambling for as long as possible.
The Binion family no longer owns the property, and in 2009 the hotel rooms were closed for good. Though some areas of the casino have seen minor refurbishment, others are in need of a little TLC. But that doesn't seem to bother the regulars who crowd the front-of-house tables, where sexy dealers in short shorts deal blackjack. For those who miss old-school Las Vegas and would sooner split a pair of tens than step inside CityCenter, Binion's is the place.
Food is available.

PokerNews' tour of the summer 2019 tournament poker landscape in Las Vegas winds down with the 2019 Binion's Summer Series, taking place downtown at Binion's Gambling Hall, the legendary old Horseshoe where it all began.

The poker landscape has changed massively over the decades since Binion's housed the only game in town, but there are still tournaments to be played and money to be won there, even if it's not quite as much as the prizes available at some of the other spots around town.

Highlights and Features of the Binion's Summer Series

This year's Binion's Summer Series has seen the venue up the buy-ins on many of the events compared to past years, such that features numbered events are at either the $550 price point or $1,100.

Roughly every other day from June 1 through July 1 — the entirety of the series — there will be a featured event. The games will mostly rotate, as Binion's remains committed to a hallmark of its summer poker series: consistent non-hold'em offerings. Stud and Omaha players will find Binion's to be one of the more welcoming venues in the city.

Still, the 2019 Binion's Summer Series $1,100 Main Event will be no-limit hold'em as usual. It features two starting days, June 23 and June 24, and two subsequent play down days until a winner is crowned June 26. There's also a $1,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship.

As for daily and nightly tournaments, the filler events that aren't among the numbered $550-plus tournaments will be $75 no-limit hold'em tournaments with $25 add-ons and rebuys and 20-minute blind levels.

One thing that you won't find on the Binion's schedule is guarantees. None are listed on the official schedule and PokerNews confirmed in a phone call to Binion's that none will be offered.

Don't take that to mean there isn't solid money to be won, if past events are any judge. Last year, for example, two players chopped the $1,000 No-Limit Championship for about $45,000 apiece.
